The Pipes Were Calling.....

This past weekend was the seventh anniversary of my husband Dan's death.
Some days it feels like it was yesterday. Other days, I feel like that life was all a dream. Mostly because my life is dramatically different now.

I didn't go to the parade this year. Don't know why. I missed it for the second time in 35 years. The only other time I missed it was the snow of 1993. I would have went but my mother wouldn't come to my house to watch my kids. I didn't feel like dealing with CYS if I dragged them with me to get drunk in 2 feet of snow.

Anyway.........I feel like I've already written all there is to write about Dan and his death. So here are some past blog posts about my self proclaimed Prince of Ireland.

Here's to ya Dan! Raise of the glass

*How about my glasses!!! They take up my whole face! Would love to have that figure back though.

I don't know what to say. I just had to comment. Your post caught me and took my breath away. Frank and I are having rough times. Your post put it in perspective. Thank you for sharing the most private times of your life. It helped mine.

I've read a lot of your older postings on your husband, who really was very handsome, and love them all. You write very well, Eileen, but that is not what makes your blog so good. You write from your heart with your head.

What an enormous loss, Eileen. I know it still hurts, and I guess it always will. We don't really get over these losses, although we do get better at dealing with them.

I think you're dealing fabulously. I also feel really privileged to have been able to share the holiday with you at Hambone's and the OAH. I'm glad I got to meet your sons, both of whom I liked a lot.

The first time I met you, Eileen, you looked straight into me with forthright and sincere interest. I liked you instantly, instantly. So I can understand how your Prince of Ireland knew that he was going to marry you right off the bat.

From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow

Happy St. Paddy's Day, my Irish friend
